Farmall tractor F-20

Image

Description

It was purchased by the collector Boselli in 2008 in Calerno, a hamlet of the municipality of Sant’Ilario d’Enza, in the province of Reggio Emilia.
The tractor was in good condition and was relatively easy to restore.
Some of its special features include the petrol starter and rear wheel cascade gearboxes.
It ran on petrol/kerosene.
When compared to its predecessor, i.e. the Farmall Regular model, the Farmall F-20 had a more powerful engine, improved narrow front wheels, and a four-cylinder overhead-valve engine with 29 horsepower (22 kW), powering a four-speed sliding-gear transmission. The name F-20 implied that the machine could pull two ploughs.
The rear portal axle used drop gears to raise the clearance underneath the tractor higher than a simple axle would allow.
From 1936 onwards, the F-20 was painted bright red to increase visibility. This quickly became a trademark of the Farmall line, as we will see in the Farmall Cub, which is also featured in the Franco Risi collection.
