Orestein & Koppel railway locomotive
Description
It was discovered following research conducted by the architect Aramino and was purchased in the Milan area in 1997. The machine was not in a terrible condition, but it took several years for it to be fully restored.
The first events it was displayed at after being given a new lease of life date back to 2005.
Generally used in confined spaces due to its low clearance of only 50 cm, this locomotive has two Decouville-type axles.
Specifically in the case of this locomotive, there are accounts of work being carried out in open-pit mines and river embankments.
Additional research suggests that the first owner of this car was the Società Veneta, which purchased it in 1909 to carry out activities near Rome.
The locomotive was exhibited at several editions of the annual ‘DIY festival’ held in Milan’s Novegro park, where it had become quite normal to see it take children for a ride in its comfortable carriages.
